Healing and the Arts

In response to the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., the Arts Education Partnership published the following list of resources for parents and educators:

The Healing Power of the Arts Website from the Colorado Council of the Arts, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts: http://www.artslynx.org/heal -- A resource to investigate the power of the arts as a force for positive change in our lives and in our community.

Ed Week's Website offers resources for teachers and adults helping children to cope with the recent events: http://www.edweek.org/ew/newstory.cfm?slug=03resources.h21.

Refer to The Arts and Healing Network Website for ideas of what others have done to use the arts in healing their communities: http://www.artheals.org

Watch the website of Americans for the Arts (http://www.artsusa.org). Coming soon, they will devote a section of their web page to information about public art tributes nationwide.

PBS is providing a number of resources for Parents and Educators on its web site available at: http://www.pbs.org/americaresponds/ Some of these resources address tolerance, emergency preparedness, fear, and patriotism.
